Protect your data wherever it is, wherever it goes, however it gets there...across all major computing platforms.

Founded in 1986 by Phil Katz, PKWARE is the inventor of the ZIP standard, the most common file type used on all major computing platforms today. PKWARE leverages the ZIP standard to provide data compression, security, and file management products that operate on all major enterprise computing platforms, including desktop, server, midrange, and mainframe. Thousands of organizations use PKWARE products to increase operational efficiencies and accelerate business growth, without hindering necessary workflows.

PKWARE Products Provide

  • Data-centric, cross-platform security and compression
  • Solutions for small, medium-size, and enterprise-level businesses, as well as government agencies

Important Information for VARs

  • We provide a solid ROI to a very select number of partners
  • We support our partners with the tools and resources needed to ensure your success
  • We offer products that add significant margin and fill holes in your current product offerings
  • We share in the re-occurring maintenance and upgrade revenue streams generated year after year

Complementary Products

  • Cross-platform solution — most systems require the ability to compress and encrypt some percentage of the files they deal with for storage and transmission.
  • Transmission technologies — compression reduces the time to transmit; encryption ensures the files are protected upon arrival.
  • Backup technologies — encrypted files cannot be compressed, so ideally you compress before you encrypt. By doing so, your "backup window" time is reduced, while also saving on bandwidth and storage media (tape, disk, etc.).
  • Compliancy solutions — sensitive data is secured via encryption while still allowing it to be easily exchanged with internal workers or external business partners.

End User Target Markets

Examples of end user target markets include healthcare, retail, banking, financial services, manufacturing and government. End users will typically have to satisfy one or more of the following needs:

  • Protecting confidential information as required by government regulations or industry mandates
  • Sending sensitive data to external partners or customers
  • Storing sensitive data securely, ensuring it remains secure when retrieved or moved
  • Sending secure email in a simple and easy to use manner
  • Moving data securely through all steps of transit to multiple, or geographically dispersed, data centers
  • Protecting sensitive information as a result of audit requirements, while also ensuring access to it
