Alternative Technology Adds Utimaco mobile security to its GSA Schedule

Utimaco solutions are now available to Government Sectors on Alternative Technology’s GSA Schedule

Englewood, CO. February 6, 2007 Alternative Technology, the leading specialty distributor of thin-client/server-based computing, edge infrastructure, and Government-approved security solutions, today announced the addition of the Utimaco SafeGuard to its GSA Schedule.

Utimaco, The Data Security Company, has positioned several key elements of the SafeGuard product to be available for authorized VARs to sell to federal, state, and local government entities via Alternative Technology’s Distribution GSA Schedule, including the SafeGuard CryptoServer, which is a tamperproof hardware security module (HSM). CryptoServer provides enterprises, as well as government agencies, with a certified, efficient and high-performing HSM in accordance with Suite B, the National Security Administration’s (NSA) cryptographic recommendations for protecting the U.S. Government's classified and unclassified communications. The CryptoServer supports the Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) algorithm and is FIPS Certified Level 4.

The SafeGuard solutions also include SafeGuard Easy, the market leading hard disk encryption solution with more than 3 million users worldwide, which has been awarded the FIPS 140-2 Level 1. Utimaco offerings provide innovative protective solutions for mobile and wireless computing, cell phones, laptops, personal digital assistants (PDAs), e-mail security, and LAN security.

“Federal, state & local markets have critical needs in the area of mobile security. Being added to Alternative Technology’s GSA Schedule will allow us to better serve that marketplace,” said Brendan Sullivan, vice president of channels and distribution for Utimaco. “As mobile and wireless devices are increasingly deployed to support Homeland Security, and voice, e-mail and WLAN connectivity grows, the risk of unauthorized access to data must be effectively managed. Alternative Technology has an excellent reputation in the VAR community, particularly for their strong security focus and their technical services and education programs, which enable VARs to more easily support federal, state and local markets with GSA approved products.”

“The addition of Utimaco, a leader in the area of mobile security technology, strengthens our offering and our ability to meet government demands through our channel partners,” said John Stubbs, vice president, Alternative Technology. “Alternative Technology’s VARs are actively engaged in the federal, state, and local markets to identify emerging opportunities for our suite of vendor offerings,” said Stubbs. “VARs have one point of contact to buy best-of-breed security and infrastructure products and integrated solutions from Alternative Technology’s vendors, who participate in the GSA program and are heavily supported by our go-to-market plans, integrated solutions, and security consulting and technical services.”
