Alternative Technology Named Fortinet’s first North American Authorized Training Center

Strong Working Relationship Garners Alternative Technology Fortinet Training Responsibility


Englewood, Co., April 20, 2006 – Englewood, Colorado Alternative Technology, the leading specialty distributor of thin-client/server-based computing, edge infrastructure, and Government-approved security solutions, today announced that it will become Fortinet’s first North American Authorized Training Center, with classes beginning in selected US and Canadian cities as early as May 16, 2006.

Under the agreement, Alternative Technology will provide Fortinet training to its network of resellers in the USA and Canada, and classes that can be resold to end users. Fortinet is the pioneer and market leader in Unified Threat Management and the only provider of ASIC-accelerated, network-based multi-threat security systems for real-time network protection.

Initial course offerings include:

  • 201 - FortiGate Multi-Threat Security Systems I - Administration and Content Inspection,Course Length: 2 days
  • 301 - FortiGate Multi-Threat Security Systems II - Secured Network Deployment & Virtual Private Networks, Course Length: 2 days
  • 201/301 Bundle, Course Length: 4 days

Alternative Technology currently offers Fortinet’s special program pricing for Fortinet Partners, called the Fortinet FastBreak program: VARs can certify their engineers by attending the 201 or 301 courses for the discounted price of $500 each.

The course prepares students for the Fortinet Certified Network Security Professional (FCNSP) Certification Test. Students will gain an understanding of FortiGate device configuration, basic security vulnerabilities, as well as security policy design and management.

Channel Partners who obtain the FCNSP designation will receive a FortiGate-60 multi-threat security appliance at no charge ($895 value).

The classes will be initially conducted at Alternative Technology’s Denver and Mississauga Training Centers or arrangements can be made for onsite training.
